Makeup Haul

I've purchased a few makeup items from Ebay this month - and still waiting for a couple of more things to arrive, but so far this is what I got!

I had to try the foundation that's supposed to be the dupe to Nars Sheer Glow, so I got Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation. I also got Benefit High Beam highlighter and Benefit Posietint. I've had the High Beam before in a tiny size, but it's gone and I wanted a new one. And last, two new Mac eyeshadows: Prepped for Glamour (Pret a papier collection, Summer 2010) and Bronze (mac regular).

I'm a sucker for neutral colors, especially taupe - so all though I knew Prepped for Glamour is a dupe for Satin Taupe I still wanted it. Love it, but not more than Satin Taupe which is slightly more silver-ish and have a better color pay-off.
Mac Broze is very similar to a lot of other Mac eyeshadows I already own. I thought it would be more brown resembling maybe Tempting, but this reminds me more of All That Glitters.
Are these must-haves? Nah..

It took me a while to figure out what color to chose in this foundation, but after watching several reviews on You Tube and reading blog reviews I decided that # 100 Natural Tan would maybe be a good fit - and it's perfect!!
For reference:
Right now I'm a Mac nw/nw 35-40 (maybe closer to 40). My skin is very pink and the foundation is just very neutral in color.

So how does this compare to Nars Sheer Glow? Well, I have to say I agree that this is a great dupe! I actually think this is better because it's not as thick to apply and it feels like wearing nothing but my own skin, but still gives a good coverage that is buildable. The Nars is a little on the heavy side - in my opinion.
I don't think Nars Sheer Glow comes in any neutral colors that fits women with a cold undertone to the skin, but this certainly does :)
I would definitely recommend and repurchase!

Aw, thank you beautiful! ♥
I was wondering, how do you apply the highbeam? Sponge, brush, fingers? Do you apply it before or after foundation? I still haven't figured out a good way to apply this..
xo

Fern:
Thank you! :) It's a great foundation and I can't get over how cheap it is!

the high beam and posie tint look really pretty together!

I have a bunch of different mac eyeshadows that I love (bronze is actually one of them) but I am going to purchase some more before I leave for china. If you had to recommend your favorites.. what would you say is a MUST have to create some really great looks?

I know its a hard question :)

Omg, you will become addicted!! lol
We don't have a lot of the brands here, like Nars, Benefit etc so I get all that from Ebay - and most of my Mac stuff too because it's just cheaper!
Happy shopping! ;)

MsHark:
Hi Steph! I'll definitely try to answer that, but I have to think some more about it and I'll come up with a list for you ;)
xo

Juicygirl:
You're welcome :) It's definitely worth a go! :) You wont regret it!

DeAnna:
I figure the posietint is going to be great for Summer since it gives a kind of dewy cheek with pop of color. I'm not a huge fan of powder-face in bright sunny weather.
Yey! So glad you like this foundation too :) xo

Nikosmommy:
I agree! You have great taste beautiful lady ;) xo

Oeh I like the Benefit Posietint on you.
Do you just apply on cheeks or can it also be used for other things?

This is a gorgeous look. I am also a fan of High Beam. Moon Beam is also nice and Clinique to a beautiful shimmery liquid for cheeks. :)

Hey Michelle,

Thanks a TON for doing the research you did - because I'm an NW35 in MAC. Heart you very much for making my life easy :)

Quick question before I buy - Do you think the Neutrogena #100 is a tad bit warm / orangey? I'm cool-skinned, and am petrified of wearing anything even slightly 'warm toned' on my skin. Which is why I haven't delved into neutral eyes as yet. (Thank goodness for your blog and the ideas you've given me!)

Sheetal:
Oh, I'm so glad that information was helpful!:)
I don't have anything warm to my skin what so ever and this is a perfect neutral foundation!
I'm just like you: totally petrified to wear anything that has a drop of yellow in it because it will not look good on my cool skin tone. In my opinion this color hasn't got anything golden to it!
