Wayne (gossmakeupartist on You Tube) first introduced me to Scott Barnes when he wrote on his blog that Mr. Barnes was coming out with a makeup book called "About Face". When I heard that Scott Barnes is also Jennifer Lopez's makeup artist I knew I had to get my hands on that book.
This is the man responsible for creating J-Lo's glowy look!
I ordered the book from Amazon for $ 20,18 (I would gladly have paid twice that amount) and I finally got it, last week!!
(You can get it for $ 14. 61 now, which I can't even understand.... what!?)
What can I say, the book is pure eye-candy!! It's filled with the most amazing transformations of regular women, and it's so funny because they all get J-Lo'fied in their transformations (he can J-Lo'fy me any day!!).
This book will tell you, and show you exactly how to achieve that famous glow! I didn't even make it half way through the book before I had to run to the bathroom, remove all my makeup, and try the Scott Barnes method. Haha! I've read and looked through "About Face" every day since I got it and it's so inspirational!
This is not a how-to book for girls/women wanting to know how to apply makeup, in my opinion. It's not that basic. But if you know your way around with a brush and want to get some new ideas and inspiration - this is the book for you!

Before finishing reading I was going to say $20 it's not bad at all book but now for less than $15 I am very surprised...
The picture you are showing us are stunning and I love before and after picture lol ! it's great to know that any woman with a lil bit of help can look just like a JLO ! awesome =)

i think this would be a good book for me - i'm still trying to figure out how to put this stuff called makeup on and make it look nice all the time - compared to some of you guys and how amazing you look!

I think you're doing a really good job with makeup, DeAnna!! :) But we can all get some inspiration and learn some new tricks :) I hear really good things about the makeup book from Bobbi Brown too. Have you heard anything about it?
Does he give specific products to use? He has his own line of cosmetics correct? Is he using only his own products or does he refer to other brands as well? I'd really like to get this book! My Mom has the Bobbi Brown Living Beauty book and I've paged through it and it's pretty good!

I think I have misused the word "review" here.. I haven't really said much more than this is a great book! Sorry...
He mentions a couple of Maybelline products (an eyeliner or something) - but I think Maybelline sponsored this book and it comes out a little obvious that they do since he doesn't mention any other specific products. I wish he had done that, but then again maybe not...
I'm sure we can create similar looks with all kinds of different products, not just what he uses.:)
I would say this book is not a how-to for girls/women who want to learn how to apply makeup. It's not that basic. But if you know your way around with makeup brushes and know blending, this will be a great book to have that will inspire you to try out new things!
That's what I needed and got out of this book. I have totally changed my highlighting/concealing routine because of Scott Barnes - and I love the result! :)
