Bobbi Brown Artist Palette for Lips

Behold the mother of all lipstick palettes: Bobbi Brown Artist Palette for Lips:
Oh my gosh! This is a treasure. The colors are so amazing I want to wear them all at once! They are so nice and creamy and Bobbi Brown is really living up to her reputation of having excellent makeup.

My first reaction to this palette was the size. It's bigger than I thought it would be. I thought it would fit nicely into the palm of my hand, but it's actually too big for that. It's really thick too and quite heavy. But with 42 lipsticks, it should be!

And then I opened it up...... *Que Angel quire*
(Click on the pictures for larger image)

(Left side)

(Right side)

Can you tell why I am in love with this? Bobbi Brown have the pretties colors ever. It's just girlie and pretty! All the name and numbers of the lipsticks are written on the divider-thing in the middle. I love that! That way the clients can go out and buy the lipstick themselves if they like, and I can fill the pan up if it gets empty (which will probably be in a very long time!)

These are the names of the lipsticks:

Award!!!

I'm so lucky! I've been nominated for these wonderful blog awards by the even more wonderful and stunning Lizz. Her blog is one of my favorites that I always read and I love watching her videos on You Tube.

Thank you, Lizz! ♥

Go to her blog right here: That One Girl
And this is her You Tube channel! <--- click! So I have to do the following: 1. Thank the person who nominated me for this award 2. Copy the award & place it on my blog. 3. Link to the person who nominated me for this award. 4. Tell us 7 interesting things about yourself. 5. Nominate 7 bloggers 6. Post links to the 7 blogs I nominate.

So here are 7 interesting (or "interesting") things about myself:

1. I used to love the New Kids on the Block so much when I was a teenager that I managed to track down what school they had gone to - and where their siblings still went to. I wrote a letter (no e-mail back then! haha) to the head master of the school saying I would like to be an exchange student there and if he could please help me find a familiy to live with. (lmao). He actually wrote me back saying that was not a problem, but then I got cold feet and backed out.

2. When I was a baby and up until the age of 5, I was super blond!

3. I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was little and fly F-16

4. I broke up with my first boyfriend (my first real boyfriend at age 16) because I didn't like his shoes.

5. I'm a Christian

6. I hate cooking dinner, but love to bake!

7. I'm a TV-series junkie!!

The seven girls I am nominating are these:

Nailpolish + boredom = painted brushes!

When I'm bored or should be doing something else, I get very creative.. so tonight I decided to paint my brushes with my new nail polish.

Why paint your brushes, you say?

Well, if you work as a makeup artist you wont get them mixed up with other makeup artist's brushes. - And a lot of muas have the same Mac brushes. Maybe I wont work with any other makeup artists in the future, but if I do, I am prepared!

Either way, paint them for reason number two: it looks cute! ;)

How to do it:
Just grab any nail polish of choice and a roll of tape. Wrap the tape around the brush as far down as you want the tip of your brush painted. Apply a couple of coats of nail polish and let them dry in a cup so they wont have any marks. After the polish has dried, peel off the tape slowly and voila, you have your own personalized brushed!

(Btw, this is not my own brillian idea. Lots of makeup gurus on YT do this, so that's where I got it from ;) Not trying to take credit ;))

Speaking of brushes...
Meet my new fan brush! It's called Paris Berlin Fan Brush and I purchased it from Performers Zone for £ 14.55 (equals ca. $ 21).
I have been looking for a high quality, super soft and fat fan brush. Most fan brushes out there are so so thin and almost exfoliate your skin because of harsh bristles.

Why you should have a fan brush?
♥ It's perfect for applying highlighter on your cheek bones
♥ It's perfect for contouring your cheekbones
♥ It's perfect for adding loose powder under the eye when applying eyeshadow that will have fall-out. - and then brushing it away after :)

OPI Fall/Autumn nails

I'm loving this color for Fall/Autumn.
The nailpolish is OPI and the color is Parlez-vous Opi?. The picture is exactly what it looks like in real life. A kind of dirty purple. Soooo nice!!

Loose powder haul

Recently I have been taking a look at my train case trying to figure out - is there anything I'm missing to do what ever kind of makeup on what ever type of woman?
There are a few essentials I am missing and would like to get, one was loose powder for women with lighter skin and women with olive skin.

So, today I splurged and bought two new loose powders: Chanel Powder Universel Libre in the color Peche (# 50), and Clinique loose powder in Transparency # 02.

The Chanel was highly recommended by Pixiwoo on You Tube (in THIS video) and the Clinique powder by beautiful Selby - also on You Tube. (her channel is here: magicgrl111 )

The latter is a light pinkish toned powder which is perfect to brighten the face, especially for olive skin and for the under eye area for everyone else. The result it gives under the eye is the same as with Benefit Eyebright - which is one of my HG products to use every day.

Clinique loose powder in Transparency # 02
This is a transparent color, but I totally packed it onto my hand to show off the pinkish color. With a big fluffy brush it wouldn't give off this much color.

I have mentioned the Chanel loose powder before. This is my HG loose powder. I love love love love this product so much. It sets the foundation, smooths lines and gives the face a slight glow that looks amazing in daylight and especially in pictures. In my opinion: a must-have for a bride.
I use this powder in the color Doré (# 40) which is the darkest color. It's a pricy product, but the jar you get is huge!! You will have this a LONG time!

Chanel Powder Universel Libre in the color Peche (# 50)
When I swatched this I was so happily surprised! The sheen it gives is just so beautiful and will be perfect as a highlight on my cheekbones and nose :) This is also transparent, but I think it might give a slight "white-ish" color if I use it all over my face since I'm a bit tanned (NW35)

I'll do some FOTD entries soon using these products. Promise! :)

MAC face chart sketch book

Face charts are amazing for three reasons:

1. It's a great way of trying out new makeup looks, being creative before you try it out on yourself or others.

2. It's a great way of remembering a look you've done; color combinations, different products etc.

3. When you've done someone else's makeup, it's also great to draw and write down the makeup so your client can remember how you did it and/or go buy the makeup you've used.

I have been trying to get a hold of MAC face charts for a long time and f i n a l l y an angel on Twitter gave me a great picture to use :)
So today I have been super clever and creative making my own MAC sketch book inspired by the picture above...

BIRTHDAY GIRL!!

One year ago today my little girl was born!
*On que: Awwwwwwww!*

Today she also got sick for the very first time, so now we are both sick. Here's a picture of us in bed, this morning.
She got her own remote control! Lol A techie geek like her mamma ;)

My fall foundation?

For my birthday I got a gift certificate that I was going to use to buy myself a new wool coat for winter. Well, after looking high and low I still haven't been able to find one I like - so of course I end up using part of the certificate at the makeup counter :O

I have a lot of foundations at home, but they all have that dewy glowy finish to them. And for fall and winter I want my skin to look moisturized and more matte than summer glowy..... If that made any sense :/

My new found makeup brand of love is Chanel so I went straight to the Chanel counter to see what they had. That's where I found this cute little compact. It's the compact version of their liquid foundation Teint Innocence. It's called Teint Innocence Compact Créme Universel. I got this in the color "50 Natural". It's a really good match (although slightly yellow) to my NW30-35 skin. It's refillable which is great! It's got spf10 and medium coverage. It leaves my skin with a really nice finish. I'll post a picture of that later. Still sick so I look crazy right now.. :p

I read that it's not recommended use the little sponge it comes with to apply this foundation, other than to touch-up, because it leaves the foundation caky on your skin. So I tried it first with my Mac165 brush since that works wonders with my Chanel Bronze Universel, but it did not work a t a l l!
The perfect brush with this foundation I found to be a regular foundation brush like Clinique's brush or the Mac190.

So far I'm loving this with my Chanel loose Powder Universel on my t-zone.
- Which is by FAR my HG powder to use on myself and clients! I am getting this in the color Peche too to keep in my train case. Peche is the perfect color for women with more fair skin. (I have Doré which is the darkest).

This month I am...

Stealing...
this blog entry idea from gorgeous Elizabeth (go to her blog right here: -->BEEM ME UP, SCOTTY!) (nerd joke.. if you love Star Trek you'll get this one..haha)

Baking...
a lot since this is a big birthday month for my family. As you know I had my bday last weekend, and on Saturday my little baby girl Filippa, is turning 1, and then my mom is turning 70 in two weeks! And since I'm the baking-woman I have to make the cakes :)

Trying not to...
spend so much money on makeup... Think I got a quadruple deja vous right now! lol I actually woke up very abruptly this morning realizing I'm getting married (I forget sometimes...) in 10 months and we need to save a lot of money for that :O

Working...
hard to get some mua jobs! It's a lot harder to get established as a mua in a new city than I thought it would be. But I will be patient all though that is not a part of my DNA.

Eating...
Low carb still! Right now I'm sick so my diet is a little bit off. I'm basically eating what ever I can swallow and not thinking too much about calories or carbs. - But those last pounds WILL GO before Christmas! My new goal!!

Releasing my...
inner hot working mamma! Haha!
I'm trying to work on my closet with work outfits so I will look like a super sharp and hot computer consultant nerd!
I definitely need some more clothes... but don't we always? :/

Watching...
my favorite tv-series that are back! - and a few new ones. To name some: Greek, the Medium, Eastwick (haven't decided if I like this or not...), ANTM, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, the Dollhouse. Anyo other I need to be watching?

Drinking...
water! I find it so difficult to remember to drink water when it's cold outside. I keep gravitating towards the fancy office coffee machine.. not good!

Staying...
positive! I'm a true believer in what thoughts you put "out there" is what you will get back. Not always so easy when things are not going your way, but you can control your frame of mind! :)

Great beauty - and makeup websites!

I wanted to share with you some really great websites I've been spending some time with lately. If you're a makeup artist - or just interested in makeup and getting inspired, I think you will like these.
I would l o v e for you to share some of your favorite beauty - and makeup websites and/or web shops, so please let me know what they are :)

Tricia Sawyer's website. Http://www.triciasawyer.com
She's a really talented makeup artist who has been the personal artist to Lindsay Lohan, Gina Gershon, Kate Beckinsale, Brittany Murphy, Scarlet Johansson and Jessica Alba.... Need I say more?
Well, I will ;) On her website she shares some really great insider tips for makeup artists. She has also created her own makeup line that looks pretty great.

This is a makeup community I just recently discovered. Why I have been spending so much time here lately is because they have a page called "Beauty Breakdowns". This consists of pictures of celebrities in different tv-series and movies - and the key makeup artist tells us what makeup he/she was using on them. I love that!! I finally got to read what the gorgeous women on Lipstick Jungle were wearing for foundation, lipstick colors, eyeshadows etc.

The Pro Makeup Shop http://www.thepromakeupshop.com
This is a webshop, but one that I really love and think is a find for any makeup artist - whether you work as a freelance or full time mua.
I was first introduced to this website through Samantha - the Pixiwoo sister on You Tube. This is the video where she talks about this website and shows what you can buy there:
CLICK ME!
This web shop has got some a m a z i n g disposable makeup brushes, wands, spoolies etc etc.. They come in cute little plastic bags and contains exactly what you would need for one client to be perfectly hygienic. Of course I use my Mac brushes on clients, but when it comes to lipwands, mascara - and so on, you will have to use disposables with clients. - And you will at some point get a client that insist you can only use disposables everything. That we have to respect.

The price is super affordable and the shipping as well! They ship world wide!

This girl is so beyond talented that she will blow you away!! I don't know how many eye looks she has done, but they are SO amazing I can't even put words to it. A lot of them are perhaps not wearable for daytime makeup - at least not for us neutral girls, but just watch the techniques, watch how she combines colors and let is inspire you to create your own looks. Trust me, you WILL be inspired by her blog! First time I saw this blog I spent 4 hours looking at her pictures..

Christina Farrell's makeup blog: http://themakeupblogger.typepad.com
I found this blog a week ago by recommendation from a fellow twitter (InMyProOpinion). Christina is a celebrity makeup artist and she's got a beauty blog! How great is that!! As a freelance makeup artist I love being inspired by other makeup artists, hearing their best makeup tips, tricks, reviews and recommendations. - Not just makeup artist, but people in general who has a passion for this. I haven't even begun going through her blog roll, but I'm sure there are some amazing sites there that I will be spending hours reading... :)

Mac Trend f/w collection haul

When I heard that Mac was coming out with a quad named Tone Grey I had to get my hands on it!
This quad is out with the Trend f/w collection. (fall/winter collection 2009)

Now you would think it had all or mostly gray colors, right? Nooo.. it has two (!) grays to my surprise. But Mac has actually managed to make two grays that are not in their permanent collection and dupable - so I love it!!

What I love about these quads is that you get more eyeshadows for your money (especially if you're Norwegian and buy these on Ebay) and if you depot the quad you get a new little palette to use! :)

A warmer white
This is a gorgeous shimmery ice-green color. I absolutely love this!

Tone: Grey
This is a semi-matte gray color with a bit of bluish tone to it.

The Right Smoke
This is basically Deep Truth from Mac's permanent collection. If you don't have that one, I recommend even more getting this quad.

Waft
A beautiful dark gray with shimmer.

Mac Warming Trend e/s - comparison

Last e/s to do a comparison with is Mac Warming Trend.
It's a veluxe pearl that came out with the Cool Heat Collection.

I felt this color barely showed up on my hand because it's very skin toned.
I compared it to Retrospeck (permanent) and they are pretty much same in color. Warming Trend is slightly more beige-brown. Retrospeck is a lustre so Warming Trend is a lot better and silkier to apply.

No flash on the picture to the left.

My verdict:

They are dupes, but I prefer Warming Trend because of the silkyness texture.
It's definitely a beautiful highlight color to use all over the lid or on the brow bone - especially for tanned women or women of color. This will go in my highlights palette (that is already full.... :P)

My hand is so red after applying and reapplying swatches on the same hand... lol

Mac Pandamonium e/s - comparison

First of all, sorry for talking so much about Mac limited edition and discontinued e/s. I know it's not really fair to rave about an e/s that is discontinued, but if you are like me - an Ebay fanatic, you can find most of these there.

This is the Pandamonium e/s that also came out with the Makeup
Art collection for fall 2009. With that collection it came out in a quad. I only wanted the gray color so I got this from Ebay.

So, the question is: is it unique enough to go out there and spend the extra money - or does Mac have a permanent color that can be a dupe? I swatched Pandamonium with two other colors: Silver Ring and Night Devine. It's definitely nothing like Silver Ring, but Knight Devine might be pretty similar. What do you think?

My verdict:
Pandamonium is the rock chick sister to Knight Devine. They are pretty much the same color, but Pandamonium is more glittery. So if I can get that to show up on the lid - then this e/s might not be redundant after all.. But seriously, had I swatched this before buying it, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Mac Top Knot e/s - comparison

Next eyeshadow up is Top Knot. Top Knot came with the Blond Brunette Redhead collection and it's a velvet.
This is a blackened purple with glitter to it.

Why I'm doing all these comparisons is because most of the eyeshadows I got in my recent haul I think are dupable. I was a bit disappointed about that, so I wanted to share it with you in case you are wondering about getting any of these e/s. Then you can decided yourself if you think it's worth it, or the dupes are good enough ;)

The dupe for this is Smut - in my opinion. They both are almost black colors, Top Knot slightly more intense with glitter to it. Except when I swatched it I felt the glitter didn't even show up :(

My verdict:
This is pretty easy, these are dupes in my eyes! I can create the exact same look with both of these without any noticeably difference. Although this color is so beautiful, I do regret getting it. But, it's another Mac e/s, so I'm all smiles!

I should probably do a swap with someone since I'm starting to get a few dupes in my collection...
